Trade Wars
Short answer: Tariffs are taxes a government places on imported goods, used to raise revenue, protect domestic industries or gain leverage in trade disputes. They can support local producers but also raise prices for consumers and businesses and invite retaliatory tariffs from trading partners.
The Reel was posted on April 8, 2025, days after the U.S. announced broad new tariffs on April 2, 2025, and amid retaliation and market turmoil. The footage shows the U.S. Capitol, container ships and markets.
