I Wanted You to Know...
Short answer: The cardiac cycle is the sequence of contraction and relaxation that pumps blood. It starts in the sinoatrial node, the heart's natural pacemaker, which fires an electrical impulse.
The two atria contract and push blood into the ventricles. The impulse then passes through the atrioventricular node and down the bundle of His, and the ventricles contract, pumping blood to the lungs and the rest of the body. The familiar 'lub dub' sound comes from the heart valves closing. The footage is an animated 3D heart.

Video transcript: I Wanted You to Know...: Every Heartbeat Starts With a Spark From the Sinoatrial Node
Cardiac cycling is a finely tuned sequence that ensures blood flows efficiently through the body. It begins with the sinoatrial node, known as the heart's natural pacemaker, generating an electrical impulse. This impulse causes the atria, the two upper chambers of the heart, to contract, pushing blood into the ventricles. The impulse then travels to the atrioventricular node and down the bundle of His to the ventricles. This causes the ventricles to contract, pumping blood out to the lungs and the rest of the body. This cycle of contraction and relaxation repeats, creating the rhythmic "lub dub" sound of a heartbeat and maintaining continuous blood circulation. NOW YOU KNOW!
