# Canadian Moose (DD-533)

> Moose (Alces alces) live across Canada's boreal and mixed forests, wetlands and tundra edges. Large bulls can stand about 2.1 meters (7 feet) at the shoulder and weigh over 600 kg (1,300 pounds), and grow broad antlers spanning up to about 1.8 meters, used in rut displays and fights. Moose are strong swimmers and can dive several meters to feed on aquatic plants. The footage, credited to kuamzz, shows a bull moose in a forest.

### Transcript

Did you know? The Canadian moose is the largest subspecies of moose found across forests, wetlands, and tundra in Canada. Standing up to 2.1 meters, or 7 feet at the shoulder, and weighing over 600 kilograms, or 1,300 pounds, these massive herbivores thrive in boreal and mixed forests, males, or bulls. Grow large, broad antlers that can span over 1.8 meters, or 6 feet, which they use for mating displays and dominance fights during the rut. Despite their size, moose are strong swimmers, capable of diving 5 meters, or 16 feet, to feed on underwater vegetation. NOW YOU KNOW!
